California Red Light Camera Ticket (Cvc21453a) - Not the Driver
My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: California

I received a notice of violation in the mail. It's a real ticket, I checked. The photo shows a female driver resembles my wife, the ticket was issued to me since I'm the registered owner.

I know that the ticket would be dismissed since I'm a male with no hair and the photo shows a female with glasses.

I know that I don't have to identify the driver. But will they re-issue the ticket to some female resembles the one in the photo who lives at the same address as mine? and if they do, what should the next step be to avoid the fine? it's $446 and would be well over $500 with traffic school.

I can ask for extensions and delay it as long as I can, but then what?

Please advice, this is the first time I ever got this kind of ticket.

    Thank you all.

Legally, they can... Will they? Only time will tell.

Uhm... If they do reissue, and assuming the picture and/or video shows that the violation was in fact committed, then there is no magic bullet that will help her avoid the fine, or in other words, get away with it.

Thank you That Guy for your quick response.

I want to ask you that I want to delay the trial as long as I can. Do you have any suggestion on how I do that? this is the first ticket I have since the 80's, and the first time I will go to trial. Please give me some advices with the procedure on how to extend and extend. Hopefully once it drags out long enough they will give up on chasing after the correct defendant.

    Thank you again.

Usually, you can get an automatic 60 day extension from the court (either by calling the phone number on the citation or by going online to the court's website or by going to the court and asking the clerk). One that 60 days is up, you must appear before the judge to request any additional extensions...

Frankly, and if that particular agency does usually research these matters and makes a habit of re-issuing these citations, I doubt that your plan of delaying the inevitable is going to work. You're free to try whatever method you think will work to your advantage.
