Non-U.S. Citizen Traveling to Canada with a Bench-Warrant in the U.S.
My question involves criminal records for the state of: Colorado

    Hi to all first,

Well, I have a specific issue here. I've been to the US in 2008, and I was pulled over and ended up with a DUI and driving w/o a valid driver's license (stupid I know). I was on bail and I had a court date set, but couldn't stay in the US for such a long period of time just to wait for my court session. From what I have read so far, I probably have a bench warrant for my arrest in the US.
The issue it, I am planning on going to Canada this summer, and I have read from few web sites that they might not let me cross the border, or even arrest me there. So I would like to know if the info is true. I do not need a visa to go to Canada, which is too bad because they would probably just deny me if the info were true.
I have a new passport with no US visa on it, and I am planning to travel directly from Europe to Canada.

    Any help appreciated, thank you.

If you're not passing through the US to get to Canada, you're unlikely to have any difficulty.

A first ticket for DUI/DWI is a misdemeanor. There generally is no extradition for a misdemeanor nor do I believe any country would bar your entry due to it, though Canada does have access to NCIC in an information sharing treaty with the US.

You can fly into the US to change flights/planes without a problem so long as you do not go out of the secure area of the airport where you will then have to pass through customs. Don't change planes in Colorado whatever you do.

If you have a license in your home country, it was easy enough to get an international driver's license from AAA.

    Thanks, that's comforting.
But what about their information sharing agreement? I still have the same fingerprins as before :). I hope they won't see my US warrant at the entry point.

    Any other suggestions?
