Suspended License: How to plead?
This one is kind of questionable because of how it all happened. I was in a wreck last thursday (which wasn't my fault) only to find out that I had a suspended license. This came about from missing a court date for a speeding ticket. I missed the date and apparently upon issuing a failure to appear in court warrant they suspended my license. I received a phone call about the warrant and the ticket and promply went down to the local courthouse to pay the fines. I paid the warrant and the ticket in full and they said "alright you're good to go" and I thought that was it. I never received a letter, phone call, or any kind of notice that said my license was suspended. I have to go to court on the 1st. My question is, how should I plead? I mean, yes I'm guilty of driving with a suspended license but does it make any difference that no one bothered to tell me? Should I plead no contest or would it just be better to plead guilty? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Re: Suspended License: How to plead?
That's the catch-22, they are only in it for the money, so they leave the laws that way. That's what started my revocation in Kansas, nobody told me to send in an SR-22 to reinstate my license. Then a snowball effect, and 13 years later, still no license.
