Current Tenant Won't Vacate
I'm supposed to be moving in to a new apartment on May 1; the current tenant received notice of non-renewal of his lease on March 27, and his lease is over April 30. While playing phone tag and/or not responding to the rental agency's inquiries about him moving, it has come down to him refusing to leave. It has also included threats like if I show up with my things on May 1, he's going to send me "home in a body bag." Aside from his nuttiness, I have nowhere to sleep/eat/shower/etc. nor to store my possessions as of May 1; I must vacate my current apartment for the new tenant. Do I have any options for compensation, or to force this tenant out (through the agency)? What can I do?
Re: Pennsylvania, Current tenant won't vacate
Did they get this piece of work out of the apartment? If not, did they at least provide alternate housing?
Re: Pennsylvania, Current tenant won't vacate
No, they didn't; they filed for eviction on May 1, and I have been living with local family for the last two weeks.
Re: Pennsylvania, Current tenant won't vacate
That's unfortunate. Are you still planning to move in when the guy is evicted?
