What Are the Deferral Rules for a CDL Holder
The language I found regarding eligibility for deferrals in WA State says that "holders" of CDLs are not eligible. How does the word "holder" get defined? I had a CDL back in the 1990's for a job I had then. Once I was no longer in the job requiring a CDL, I did not renew it. I have not considered myself a "holder" of a CDL since then (1995) My current driver's license is a standard State of Washington driver's license, however, my official driving record (obtained online) lists "inactive" under the CDL section.

My question is - does the fact that I had a CDL at one time render me ineligible for deferral? Or does it need to be "active" in order for that exclusion to apply?

I don't think so, but I don't know for sure. Call the Clerk of the Court and ask. BTW, you should keep your posts about one infraction in one thread. That way those of us who wish to respond don't have to go look up the facts about your particular situation.

Oh - I'm sorry! I thought the protocol was new subject = new thread so as not to "hijack" another topic. I'll go back to my original post.

PS - I really appreciate all the help - this forum is simply an amazing resource!
