Repo-Men Shut Off Electricity
My question involves an auto loan or repossession in the State of: Indiana
As the title says I was at home and a car that my mother was leasing was due to be repossessed. She was not home at the time but I was and I knew why they where there but I had no want to talk to these men as I'm underage.
The men knocked on the door for about an hour then decided they would flush me out with turning off my electricity with no help from the power company.
I know my mother is in the wrong as far as the repossession goes but do these men have the right to tamper with my electricity?
Thank you for any help.

Call the police, AND the power company. These repo men do NOT have the authority to mess with the power.
Re: Repo-Men Shut Off Electricity
Thank you for the fast reply.
At first I thought it may be from a non-paid bill but then I peeked outside and there was no nipsco truck and the timing was way too suspect. I will be taking legal action against them. I did not see them do this however is there some way of proveing what happened or would it just be my word against theirs?
Re: Repo-Men Shut Off Electricity
You didn't see a repo man, nobody entered your premises, the power went out for a bit, the power came back on, you didn't see anybody tamper with power lines....
Maybe you had a momentary blackout, and are being paranoid.

Excellent point.
Re: Repo-Men Shut Off Electricity
No, I saw the repo-men with the tow truck in front of the house at the same time I was looking for the power compnaies truck. They where knocking on the door but I did not want to talk to them without my mom preasent. I suppose it could have been a momentary black out it just seemed a little sketchy to me.
Re: Repo-Men Shut Off Electricity
Is the car in the garage? Is there an automatic garage door opener?
If the repo men REALLY want the vehicle and are willing to break the law to get it...it's possible they shut the power off so they could override the garage door.
Any chance they actually took the vehicle?
Re: Repo-Men Shut Off Electricity
Yes the cars in the garage I'm not sure what they were trying to do but my mom just got home and we are about to call the police I'll update shortly.
Re: Repo-Men Shut Off Electricity
Well the cops just left (gotta love that response time eh?..) anyways they say that they will look into bc the tag on the main box in the back was cut so one of these guys are in some big trouble but the cops said it will be tuff to charge them bc we didn't see anything..
We're gonna go around to the neighbors hopefully they saw something and these assholes can't get away this kind of stuff anymore as I'm sure this is not the first time they've done it.
Thanks again everyone for the help.
