Minor Caught Shoplifting at Macy's

My question involves criminal law for the state of: massashutes

Today i was cought stealing at macys. I had stolen an item that was worth around 80 dollars but was on sale for 24. I went into the fitting room with it and came out with it in my bag. I walked out of the store and was walking really fast in the mall and eventually sat down in the cafeteria but the LP cought me. he took me back to the room and asked me my info. i said I was 15 and everything. I didn't lie. The police was not involved thank god. My mom came and he said she has to pay 500. She payed 20 today and will pay 20 every week. Im wondering am I going to get a record? And will i go to court? i think he might of mentioned something about court but im not sure cause i was so out of it in the room.

If the police were not involved, it is unlikely that you will go to court or have a record. They do have a year to press charges, however.

Stop stealing. You got off easy with a civil demand this time. Tempting fate would be stupid.
