    Emancipation in New York State
I have read and understood the requirements in order to be eligible for emancipation. But I'm stuck on knowing good reasons for it. For example, I read somewhere on this website that not agreeing with the way a parent is parenting does not count as a good reason to get emancipated. My question is what are some of the good reasons to get emancipated?

Re: on Emancipation (New York State)
"My parents were both killed in a plane crash and I need to have the legal right to sign contracts so I can pay the rent and the light bill and take care of my younger siblings" would be a valid reason.

The better question is- what are YOUR reasons for wanting to be emancipated?

Maybe you have some valid reasons, if you'll list your reasons we can help you know if they are legally valid or not.

And why you would think NY's lack of an emancipation statute means that your quest is an easy one....

Remind me again where in my post I said it would be easy?

Anyways, I was just curious. At first, I wanted to get emancipated but after really researching it and reading the post others put up, I have it way easy. I've realized that my mom and aunt are trying to look out for me and I won't have it easy anywhere else. But I still am a bit curious about this Emancipation thing. Let's say for example that a mother wants to emancipate the teenager ?? Is this possible??

Are you living independently, supporting yourself, and managing your personal, social, educational and work life in the manner of a responsible adult?
