Emancipation

My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Indiana
I have an unusual situation. I have a teenage son, who was adopted by family members about 5 years ago. I lost my parental rights due to not being stable, and i had a drug problem. I have since cleaned my life up, i own my own home, have a very stable life, and remain clean and sober. My son is very unhappy, says he is occasionally physically punished, and really dosent want to live there anymore.I know that I dont have any legal rights as his parent anymore, but is there any other avenue I can help him pursue to legally be allowed to leave their home? He dosent have any income as they wont let him get an afterschool job, but we could easily support him. Please help....

Unfortunately you are a legal stranger to this child.

Until he is 18, he must live where his legal guardians say; in any case, emancipation means he has a proven record of living alone and supporting himself without help so it isn't an option anyway.

Thats what I thought, but thank you for answering...What about another relative, say a grandparent , would they stand any chance of being able to have him legally move in with them?

They would have to go to court, apply to have guardianship transferred to them, and succeed in their endeavor, before that could happen.

And this is NOT an easy thing to accomplish, OP - in Indiana there will generally need to be some compelling evidence that the parents cannot, or will not, take care of the child before third party custody (or guardianship) will be awarded.
