Alcohol and SSI
My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: pa
currently diagnosed with depression and anxiety disorder (20 years.) bi-polar (over 10 years)
i have been in 3 institutions and in rehab 3 times over a period of over 10 years. i don't feel i'm dependent on alcohol but at the same time, each time i was hospitalized it was from my mental condition, coupled with extreme life situations that i found to be unbearable, and had been on a 3-4 day binge of drinking.
have applied for SSD and have been denied since i haven't worked for over 10 years. my life situation for the last couple of years has been such that fiancee keeps threatening to throw me out and again causes extreme emotional and mental distress. i have tried working numerous jobs over the years, always resulting in severe anxiety attacks to the point of hyperventilation and vomiting.
i'm wondering now, what effect my past history of alcohol will have on a SSI determination?
do i have to report each hospital visit? will they find out if i don't report it?
please advise asap.
thanks for reading.

Re: Alcohol and SSI
Can your treating mental health professionals distinguish your mental illness from your substance abuse history? Can you document a disabling mental condition without revealing your substance abuse history?

Re: Alcohol and SSI
i've had long periods of abstinence from drinking (years at a time for some of them) and was still depressed, had frequent mood swings etc. seeing a brand new psychiatrist now and should i tell this dr, the history of the places i was in or can and do they that find that out themselves?
