Is it Possible to Avoid Jail Time with 20+ Felonies Pending
This question involves NY.
I know this question is based on ALOT of things so I'm going to say worst case scenario evidence/charges with best case scenario attorney.
If someone were to have let say... 20-30 felonies, all being Grand Larceny/Possession of stolen property (eg. 4 C felonies, 10+ D's, 10+ E's) and the evidence was pretty solid (surveillance, wiretaps, internet records), AND the attorney was high profile, real expensive and real good,,,,,, Any chance of avoiding jail time and just receiving 5-10 years probation? Of course there will definitely be at least 1-2 felony convictions at the end (minimum).
This person would have no priors.
AGAIN, I know that no one can really say anything for sure. I'm just trying to see if anyone knows of any similar situations or instances to this. If you have any insight, Let me know.

For 20 felonies?
Seriously? No, really?
It's an adorable fantasy, I'll give points for that.
Re: Is it Possible to Avoid Jail Time with 20+ Felonies Pending
Are you saying you have 30 felony's on your record already, or are you trying to say you have been charged in a 30 count indictment?
A 30 count indictment can be pleaded to 3 or so indictments if the prosecutor will allow a plea bargain.
If you have no priors and the prosecutor offers/accepts a deal then it is possible that you will walk home with probation if they are none violent charges.
On the other hand, if you have felony's on your record already (and especially 30) you will do time.
Re: Is it Possible to Avoid Jail Time with 20+ Felonies Pending
If this case was serious enough for wiretaps and surveillance, I really can't imagine the prosecutor shrugging things of and agreeing to probation.
Re: Is it Possible to Avoid Jail Time with 20+ Felonies Pending
The person in question has NO prior convictions of any kind. They have somewhere between 20 and 25 Felony charges pending against them right now. I'm assuming that most will be dropped during a plea bargain and the fact that the person hired a high profile attorney should help as well. All I know regarding the charges is that the worst ones are C NON-VIOLENT FELONIES. I believe the person has 4 of those. The rest of the charges are all D and E Non Violent felonies.
And what I was asking was, if/when this person pleas this case down, is there a chance they will not receive any Jail time? Is there a chance they could plea to a misdemeanor and have no felony charges?
Again, not holding anyone to their answer, just asking in case anyone has seen a similar situation.

Is it impossible? No. But it's unlikely. We don't know the facts. This person can talk to his lawyer.
Re: Is it Possible to Avoid Jail Time with 20+ Felonies Pending
Let me put this to you from another direction.
If a DA plead down 25 felonies to a misdemeanor without jail time, I, as a taxpayer and a voter, would hold that DA responsible at the voting booth.
DA's know this. This is also an election year.

well I'll post back when I know what the outcome is so people in the future can see the outcome of a case like this
