Felony 5 As a Minor

My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Ohio
My son was 15 yrs old and took the blame for his adult cousin for stealing a 4 wheeler, my son went to court and got 4 days in juv. hall but never really bein told what he was bein charged with but now that he is an adult and we have forgotten all about this he is trying to get into the military but then we had found out that he had been charged with a felony 5, is there a way that we can get this charged knocked down to a lesser charge, for a felony 5 being such a serious crime how did he only get 4 days and destroying his hopes to get into the military. Could I please get some advice on understanding this just a lil more.

I assure you that before he was incarcerated he was informed of the charge against him.

Did he admit to the crime?

How old is he now?

Depending on the amount stolen... theft may be a felony.

I assure you that the value of a four wheeler crosses that line.

This is why I am having trouble with this IF it was such a serious crime why wasnt he arrested and him coming home telling me about it, and when I went into the courthouse I talked to a few people of the court and I told them that he was only taking the fall for his cousin(which I dont think they believed me) and him only gettin 4 days in juv. hall, this does not seem as servere as the punishment he is getting now.

Way too late. If you are restless about it though, consult a criminal defense attorney.

With it being more than ten years in the past, if he has a compelling argument that he's since reformed, he can talk to his recruiter about his eligibility for a waiver.
