Multiple Mistakes Including a Line Through Total Amt Due
My question involves a traffic citation from the state of: MA

I've done my research and realize clerical errors aren't enough to get someone out of a ticket. But in addition to a few other mistakes and blank fields on my ticket, the assessment is for $100, but the officer drew a heavy strike-through line in the Total Due box on my ticket. Do I take that to mean I don't owe anything? Should I treat it like a warning and not respond since, according to the citation he is submitting, I don't owe anything? Should I fall for the "well just contact the cop and he'll rewrite it" line? Speaking of which, are we to assume and accept that officers can just amend whatever they feel like whenever they feel like it? Any information on a citation can be doctored later? Doesn't that negate prima facie? Wouldn't it be secundus facie? "Oh, well I MEANT to write ____" doesn't seem very compelling to me.

This is in addition to being stopped for "speeding" (estimated with no radar or lidar) when I was actually stationary in a parking spot with my vehicle turned off. Oh, and before you ask, I didn't park the car to avoid being caught, I wasn't speeding prior to parking. Also, a marked lanes violation. The officer told me the parking spot I was in was "for people who need to park here." When he approached my car I was on my way into the post office.

I'm planning on hiring a lawyer for this one but thought I'd post here first. I'm putting together as much physical evidence as I can to defend myself in court, and I feel the mistakes will, at least, help my defense to show that the officer was not as attentive as he should have been.

I notice the advice given here is strongly in favor of police/courts, like everyone who gets stopped SURELY must be at fault, to the point of almost being ridiculed. But, believe it or not, there are some people who get cited for things they truly didn't do.

If you want to confirm the amount of your fine, check with the court.

You may get more feedback if you explain what the officer observed prior to your pulling into the parking space.
