Car Towed from My Aparment Complex
My question involves towing laws for the State of: South Carolina
My car was towed from my apartment complex on Saturday around 3pm. I did not realize that it was towed until Sunday about 9am. I called and reported it stolen, when dispatch came they informed me that it was towed due to being illegally parked.
The towing company stated that the apt complex called because it was parked in someone's space and they didn't know who the car belonged to. I parked by car after 12 am that Friday night because all parking near my aptartment was taken which it usually is.
The complex has no identifying stickers for residents vehicles, there was no notice, I wasn't informed that my car was towed. The towing company does not release vehicles on Sunday, I will be out of $250 plus. Is there any legal action that can be taken against the complex?
Re: Car Towed from My Aparment Complex
Parking in somebody else's spot can be pretty expensive.
If there is a sign at the entrance(s) to the complex that state residential parking only (or words to that effect), then you are out $250 with no recourse.
I have known people who would have trashed the car first.
Re: Car Towed from My Aparment Complex
There are no signs, I am a resident of the complex. Also there were no available parks on my particular side of the building.
Can anyone offer any suggestions?
