If may not disqualify you, but your check will be delayed 4 to 6 weeks.

Back when I was rcving CA UI benefits in 2003 I had started taking a class at the local community college. When I indicated that to EDD, they set me up for a telephone interview and told me my benefits may be stopped. I had to convince them that the class I was taking would help me better find employment in the same job field that I was in when I was laid off. I was able to do this and infact the class did directly relate to the last job I had and my benefits continued.

I think the idea is that EDD is paying you to look for a job, not to go back to school for job retraining or to get a degree.

my last continue claim form which i submitted last week i told EDD that I am taking training classes and they have stop my payment immediately, i am attending two classes per week, one on 6:30p.m. and the other one is on Sat. morning.

i am waiting for EDD's reply as for now, after that probably another 6 weeks for the phone interview to see if i will loose any of my benefits or not. good luck with yours too.
