Citation but No Notice Yet
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Maryland
Hi,
I received a citation from the police for shoplifting - misdemeanor < $500 value. The citation said that I had to appear for trial when notified by the court. (district court of md - montgomery county)
It has been more than a year since I got the citation and I have not received any notice from the court. Did the police just not turn it in? Is there a statute of limitations?
Re: Citation but No Notice Yet
I would call the Clerk of the Court and ask if there are any outstanding warrants/charges in your name. Or you could check your State Police website and do a search for your name, pay a few bucks, see if anything comes up.
Re: Citation but No Notice Yet
Thanks.
I found the contact information for the clerk of the court and will call on Monday.
How do I search for my name on the police website? I spent a while trying to find the correct site and could not. Any help appreciated.. it is Montgomery county, MD

Quoting Fingerprinting
In ord
er to have a "background check" or "police clearance" completed by the Maryland State Police, you must appear in person at a Maryland State Police Barrack on the day they provide fingerprinting services. At that time you must present a valid form of government-issued photo identification and a check or money order for $5.00 for each fingerprint card required (usually two are required). You will then have your fingerprints taken and those fingerprints will be checked against state and local databases. You will receive a response to our inquiry within a few weeks.
