If this was in the national retail theft database, then that would be a no.
Retail involves money and since you stolen an item that can be easily purchased hands down, you can't be trusted to work at a place that deals with money. For example, you can't work at the bank because bank teller handle money. Can't be a cashier because they handle money.
That would also include Fast Food. McD's may hire a shoplifter for flipping burgers, but definitely not as a cashier.
Again, if it's just the stores database...doesn't hurt to apply at other stores.
As Ant said, if it's the National Retail Theft Database - you have a snowman's chance in Hell of working retail.
