No Arrest, Deferment - Does It Show Up
My question involves a background check in the State of: Colorado
Last March, I was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time with some friends after work and i recieved a ticket for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. I was not arrested, just written a ticket. Subsequently, I completed the deferment program which should have the incident removed from my record.
However, I am now in the process of applying of jobs in the field of education, all of which require background checks. If the deferment is complete, will this charge show up on the background check? I would prefer not to have to explain the whole thing to potential employers, so i just assume not mention it in my application.. However, I am afraid if they see it they will automatically fail my applications. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

The way I understand a "deferment" is that upon completion of the court's requirements, the matter is "dismissed" (as in it shows as such up as "dismissed" on a background check, depending on how extensive the search is). It is NOT "removed from the record".
