Pregnant 17 Year Old Under Probation Wants to Get Married
My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Nevada

I have 17 yr old grand daughter with bit of a troubled past. She recently found out that she is pregnant and now wanting to go out and get married. She has left the home where supervision and residency based on probation requirements.

As I mentioned, she has an existing probation issue and what is the best route for my daughter to take? Don't know whether emancipation would help.

Thank you for your prompt response in advance!

I can promise you, the law will not emancipate her so that she can get married without parental consent.

Who is her legal guardian? Does her guardian consent to the marriage?

Her mother is the legal guardian and she is willing to do so, however, the probationary requirement issue concerns her.

If she violates her probation, pregnant or not, she can be sent to jail.

This is something she will have to discuss with her probation officer.

Let's put it this way. If BOTH the probation officer AND the mother say she can get married, then she can get married.

If EITHER the probation officer OR the mother says no, then the answer is no and she will not be getting married.
