    Theft 3 in Washington State
I got caught stealing again. It is a LONG story as what happened. No time to explain. This time in WA state. I know they have diversion I believe. I also have a violation in OR for theft...both of this are misdemeanors.

Likely chance of jail? The officer was nice and he said you just gotta learn from these mistakes and he said most cases nothing is going to happen. Just fines. I want to do diversion though.

People in haedes want ice water.

You didn't learn the first time. Why should a court even try to help you this time ~ you refuse to help yourself. This will not be treated as a first offense.

Diversions are usually only offered for first offenders.

No one can give you complete assurance you won't go to jail. Jail is possible however, unlikely.

To the above poster, I already went to court. Nothing happened. I have no criminal record. As far as jail, no jail at all.

If you went to court, you DO have a criminal record. Maybe not a conviction, but you still have a record. Even when arrests are expunged, certain agencies will always be able to view them.

Also, just because one state does not find your criminal record from another state does not mean it doesn't exist and won't be found in the future.

The person actually has prior evidence that she was diagnosed for depression but never had problems until she lost her job the past year which was also during the time her son was taken away by the CPS.

    Should not be a factor.

Life is hard. A depressed person still knows right from wrong.

Are you saying you were arrested and have been to court in 3 weeks where one of them was a holiday week?

    Really?

    Here's a nice answer!
STOP M****RF***ING STEALING ALREADY! WHAT THE ****?

ashley360 - be prepared to get a Civil Demand letter in the mailbox and pay for it as soon as possible. If you don't, then something magical happens. I'm being sarcastic! The store will sue you and you will be forced to pay more $$$$ out of your pocket.
