I Violated an OP in Illinois
My question involves restraining orders in the State of: Illinois

Last weekend I violated an OP my Ex wife has on me by sending her a instant message. I was arrested on Tuesday and was able to make bail on Thursday. This is a Class A Misdemeanor in Illinois punishable by up to 364 days in jail and/or $2500 in fines. I have no criminal record at all and have never been in trouble with the law (nor will I be again..LOL) My question is what am I possibly facing as far as punishment for my violation.

    Thanks

No, it's not a trick question. Thats what the law states.

The IM I sent said "Go **** yourself" What happened, and I know this may not have much of a difference. I installed Messenger on my computer this weekend and an old message from her came up, and it was from February of this year, saying "Get your fat lazy butt out of bed..LOL " or something like that. It was a kneejerk reaction and I shouldn't of done it obvisouly. But this is what I'm facing now.

Only the judge can tell you what you will pay.

You need to control those kneejerk reactions.
