First Time Drug Charge in Washington
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Washington. i was arrested for marijuana possession less/equal 40 grams and use of drug paraphernalia on 12-16-09. i went to my first appearance today and plead not guilty as advised by my public defender. before i was on stand i was offered a form and if i signed i would have to pay a $250 fine and community service as punishment but i was advised i wouldn't need to.
my question is: will i still have a chance to sign that form before or on my scheduled pretrial on Jan. 1st? thank you!
And also this is my first offense, only a couple speeding tickets.

What does this meam: "before i was on stand i was offered a form and if i signed i would have to pay a $250 fine and community service as punishment but i was advised i wouldn't need to." By your lawyer? We're not going to second-guess your lawyer.
Your question of whether you'll again be offered an opportunity to sign the form is one you should address to your lawyer.
Re: First Time Drug Charge in Washington
I was told by the public defender, who was not my lawyer yet since this wasnt my pre-trial, that i wouldnt need to sign it.
thanks for your response!
