    Public Defender for Restraining Order
I cannot afford an attorney. Does anyone know if the Jefferson County court in Colorado will provide me with one? Is it common that one may be appointed in other areas?

Re: Public Defender for Restraining Order
A civil restraining order, meaning one where it is requested by an individual, isn't a criminal proceeding, and thus public defenders don't apply.

If the R.O. is part of a criminal case against you, and is ordered by the court as part of the criminal case, you can request a public defender and if you qualify, they will address the order along with the rest of the case.
