State of Indiana- My daughter and a friend shoplifted from our local Walmart. My daughter took 19.58 her friend took 58.00. They were taken into a room by loss prevention and held there until the local police arrived. They then were taken to jail fingerprinted and mug shots $750.00 bail a piece to get them out charged with felony theft( zero tolerance at our walmart) Went to court a week and a half later one went to supieor court(19.58) and the other to circuit court(58.00).Circuit had a first offenders program and supieor did not! My daughter (19.58) plead down to misdemenor conversion. fines, court cost, resitution and and 9 months probation at 20.00 a month. Plus $750.00 lawyer fee and will have a record. Friend went to curcuit court given first offenders 6 month probation fines, court cost, resitution plus lawyer fee. hers comes off of her once she completed probation no record. my daughter was never drug tested (she was pregnant) the friend was tested failed they told her that would be her base line and that was 3 months into her probation and never tested again. So see how two different court rooms in the same courthouse can be! oh ya, ban from walmart and has wrote a letter to them and they most wait a year from the time walmart got there letter and reapply to walmart. by this time it has almost been 1 1/2 yrs! and they each had to pay $100.00 civil demand. Sorry this is so long just thought it might be good for people to see. Sure hope my daughter learned a very hard and costly lesson!!!
