Can a Tenant Refuse Relocation Fee and Get Total Rent Refund for an Illegal Rental
My question involves an eviction in the state of: Los Angeles, CA

I know a tennant being offer a maximum allow relocation fee to move out her illegal rental unit she been living in for almost 2 years. This tennant didn't take the relocation money. She wants to stay in that unit as long as she can and if the landlord request her to move out again, she threaten to sue the landlord for all the previous rents she paid for those 2 years. This tennant pay cash all these years to the landlord and her lease is on a VERBAL month to month, no written contract. Do you think this tennant will able to collect all those previous 2 years rents if she was forced to move out due to unit is illegal and landlord only agree to pay the relocation fee only, but this tennant wants more, all those previous rents she paid in the past 2 years. You think any attorney can help this tennant get back all those previous rents she paid if she being force to move out this way due to illegal unit. thanks

It's plausible that the tenant can sue to recover back rents paid. Read this. We know nothing of the condition of the premises.
