The Thin Blue Line Just Got Thinner
    From Pierce County, Washington.

    http://www.seattlepi.com/local/412727_shooting29.html

Four deputies assassinated while at coffee.

And Seattle had one killed and one wounded on a Halloween ambush.

In December 2006 I lost a friend - a former intern - on a traffic stop from an ambush attack as well:

Join with the Concerns of Police Survivors this Holiday season by participating in Project Blue Light:

Please join with C.O.P.S. in promoting Project Blue Light for the holiday season. By placing one blue light in a window of your home, you'll be showing your support for officers killed in the line of duty and those who continue to work America's streets. By placing strings of blue lights outside your home, at the department, and throughout the community, law enforcement officers will understand that they are appreciated!

Law enforcement families nationwide will be decorating for the holidays in blue again this winter, honoring and remembering Project Blue Light those law enforcement officers who have given their lives in service to the profession and thanking those officers who continue to work America's increasingly dangerous streets each and every day of the year.

The color blue is a symbol of peace. Put blue lights in your window, decorate your tree in blue, trim the outside of your home or the police station in blue lights. Let our blue lights shine in support of law enforcement this season. You will be sending a dual message that you support America's peacekeepers and that you hope the coming year will be a year of peace.

A correction ... the four slain officers were not deputies, but were officers Lakewood Police Department. The press conference I saw was conducted by someone from Pierce County so that is what threw me.

Not sure what the difference is between the two... very sad four people who serve the public were killed. I always put up blue lights - had no idea of the symbolism. Thanks for letting us know.

Looks like Mike Huckabee's now got his own "Willie Horton" to deal with. Turns out he pardoned the scumbag "person of interest" when he was governor of Arkansas.

I posted this on another site...seems like there is a (can't say the word or will be banned) cowardly group with a vendetta against LE. I hope they are caught and put to death.

BTW: I am, in general, against the death penalty.

Amen! And you can't blame this one, or any others for that matter, on the economy.

And in reading a little more on the subject today; did you see the criminal record on the 'alleged' shooter had and some of the antics he pulled while in custody or in court? As the papers stated; "Why was this man walking the streets?"

Carl I also saw on the news where at the time of the murders he was out on bail for the rape of a child!! Scum sucking bag!

Bail for a child rapist? That Judge will not be re-elected. I also saw where Mike Huckabee commuted his sentence when he was doing time years ago in his state and look what happened because of it. Did he deserve his sentence commuted?? I don't think the answer is yes.

The law requires reasonable bail. Bail had been set at $150,000 and he posted $15,000 to a bondsman. How he managed to scrape together that much money I cannot say. Obviously he has sufficient friends and family that have the means and willingness to put money out to gain his release. I imagine the same was true for his plea for a commutation hearing. He probably looked good on paper at the time.

Yeah, unfortunately, my comment was more directed at the amount, if he knew it was a 10 % bond, why only 150 k's, or do the courts look at the full bail or the posted amount as unreasonable.

$150,000 would seem to be an insurmountable amount for most anyone to achieve - especially for a convicted felon likely with no gainful employment!

That may have already been with an enhancement.

Most agencies do not seek an enhancement if the suspect has no apparent means of support. Since bail is generally set by a standing court rule (at least in most places) there was likely a standard bail amount applied to the offense for which he was booked. if the agency felt he was a continued threat, they could have sought a bail enhancement. if this $150,000 was with the enhancement or not, I cannot say. They may have requested an enhancement, they may not have - hard to say.

I can guarantee that if given the opportunity, officers will not take him alive. His only real hope will be to arrange a public surrender or give up while prone or naked.

Yep. Woke up to the news that Seattle PD officer recognized him and managed to get the drop on him. Thank God there was not another officer death!

Now, they are rounding up all the people that helped him on the run!

We are awaiting word of the memorial(s) and will likely be sending officers on a very long run to Washington.
