    Should I Aim for Emancipation
I'm a 16-year-old girl living in the state of Iowa. I live with my mother and younger sister in a small town - my dad, who is not my biological parent, has his own house a couple blocks away.
My mother and I have many disagreements, which often end with her yelling or throwing/breaking something, and I've been afraid for my safety because of this as small things can upset her. I dropped out of school and I don't have a job - I'd like to, but there's no available jobs for minors in the town I live in, and we're a very poor family so I wouldn't have a ride in to town when needed.
Our house is disgusting, and I'm often sick. We have four cats, and I'm the only one who ever cleans the litter boxes. One of the cats urinates on the kitchen floor. I clean up after myself and my mother, my sister takes care of herself.
My dad's house is empty - one bed, two desks, no other furniture. My mother won't allow me to stay with him. He's disabled and can only buy necessities through checks he gets monthly, and he barely supports himself.
Finally, I have a boyfriend. He's an adult, and he currently lives in another state, but we've known each other for a while and I trust him completely. If I could, I would be living with him, and I will once I'm a legal adult. He has a job and a house, and he could easily support both of us until I could find a job of my own.
So, should I try to get emancipated?

There is not a judge in any jurisdiction anywhere that will emancipate an unemployed, drop out teen so that she can go live with her adult boyfriend.

Are you serious? This has got to be a setup.

Had you read this, you'd be aware that you're not a candidate for emancipation.

There's a reason you're instructed to read the stickies.

Not to mention the obvious; if home sucks so much, try spending more time at school at least you'd be away from the yelling, stinky catboxes, make some money of your own, increase your chances of not asking people if they want fries with that burger forever.

This, right there, is enough without anything else to ensure that emancipation is NOT an option. Period. You'll be wasting your time even thinking about it. It will not happen.
