Emancipation
My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Indiana
My 19 year old daughter just got pregnant. She is out of school and in college. Her college is all paid for so nothing to worry about there. My question is can she be emancipated at this point or not. Will I have to pay for her doctor appointments? Her mother and I have our percentages but I feel the father of the unborn child should pay these expenses. What can I expect when I go to court?

Re: Emancipation
Do you have a court order for her support, and if so does it include medical expenses?
As far as the law is concerned, she has been a legal adult (emancipated) since her 18th birthday, so unless there is a court order requiring that you continue to pay support for her AND that it includes medical expenses, you're off the hook.

Re: Emancipation
It is also time to sit down with your daughter.
If she is old enough to have a child, she is old enough to support it... and the financial responsibility is NOT yours.
Now, having said that, you can provide her with insurance for her care, but I would check with your HR department and/or the insurance carrier to make sure that her pregnancy expenses are covered.
