Can a Petty Theft Warrant Be Paid Off
My question involves criminal law for the state of: N.J. My girlfriend and I moved out of state and she had 2 petty thft chrgs in jersey. Now after gettin clean from the drug addiction that caused these charges were wondering if we can pay these off or write or do something to clear these up from outta state.

Not likely. If a warrant has been issued, that means that a judge wants to see her IN court. If there is a civil demand from whoever she stole from, that part can most likely be handled long distance - the criminal charge probably cannot at this point if the warrant was for failure to appear. Even if the items are paid off, the FTA will be a separate charge that will need to be dealt with. She needs to speak with a criminal defense attorney who practices in the jurisdiction(s) where the issues occurred to figure out the best way to address the issue and to ensure that she spends as little time behind bars waiting for her turn in court as possible.
