A/B Visa, Unauthorized Employment
I'm about to fill my AOS papers. Have so many problems. I had unauthorized employment(No work permit):wallbang: for about 1.5 years but paying taxes. I know it was bad but at that time I had no choice. Should I disclose this on my papers, I do not want get in trouble because my 2 friends who just got green cards didn't disclose and strongly suggest me not to do it. But I feel scary and bad I don't wanna lie. They told I would get more trouble if I do put my employment. But I filed joint tax return for 2008 with my husband and he will be my sponsor so anyway USCIS will know about it. What should I do? Thank You:confused::confused::confused::
Re: Ab Unauthorized Employment
I'll give you the same advise i got when i asked that question.
NEVER, NEVER LIE ON YOUR APPLICATION
they will know that you have been working illegally, especially if you filled taxes. they care more about how you entered the US than your illegal employment here. as long as you entered legally you should be fine.
talk to an immigration lawyer, just to be on the safe side.
good luck
Re: Ab Unauthorized Employment
In general, they will not hold the illegal working against you when adjusting status based on marriage to a US citizen. My wife was in the same situation and the illegal working did not cause any issue with our case.
I suggest you answer the questions truthfully as far as your work, especially if you have the joing tax return.
