Can You 'Pay Off' Your Parole
My brother is in NY Prison system. Never been in trouble with the law before til now. He was given 5 years and 5 years probation. He will get out in 4 yrs, 2 mths with good behavior. He told me (I live in Alabama) that some states allow people to pay off their parole so they don't have to be on it anymore. He said Florida is one of the most well known states for this. I've never heard of such a thing. He wants me to find out what the laws for Alabama are. As well as Illinois. (I have a sister in Illinois) How do I even begin to look for something like this?

No, there is no state that allows you to "pay off" your probation, but SOME do grant early release from probation in certain circumstances.

There's no law that says they have to, however. It's at the discretion of the probation officer and the parole board. He'd have to discuss it with his PO.

Thanks for that response. I'll let him know your answer. Perhaps I misunderstood him.
