Found Out My Auto Insurance Was Cancelled After an Accident
I was involved in an accident where the car in front of me suddenly braked and I hit it.
When I contacted my insurance comapny it told me that my policy was cancelled 4 days back , because I havent updated them with my new DriversLicense number . But they also mentioned that I did update them and it was on their records , but they did not pass on the info to the underwriters.
Now - should I pay for all the expenses incurred by the car in front of me? What all fee charges might his Insurer send me?
Should I hire a local lawyer?
Thanks,
Raj
Re: Insurance_cancelled_texas_accident
To clarify when you said you spoke with your "insurance company" and they had your drivers license info but hadn't forwarded it on to their underwriter...
Was that actually your insurance agent/broker? If so they have a responsibility to service your account and get information like update drivers information to the companythat they represent. Failure to do so would be a possible Errors and Omissions claim.
How did you provide them with your correct info? Do you have any documentation of that?

It was the customerService that told me they had updated info but did not send it to the underwriter.
I have given them the updated number by phone.
thanks,
