'Blacked Out' Battery

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Illinois

I recently received a battery charge, I do not remember the event in any way due to being blacked-out after drinking too much alcohol. Does my alcohol induced mindset or what happened was not intentional or knowingly committed. Does being blacked-out help my case at all?

Did you intend to drink the alcohol? If so, then you are still liable for the actions you perpetuate.

I agree with you statement, thank you for the quick response. I realize that I am liable for the actions I commit, I also realize that said actions would not have been committed if I was sober. Safe to Safe to say I will not be drinking again. Would attending AA classes before the court date help my case at all?

It wouldn't hurt. Judges tend to like it when they see people not only understanding that there's a problem, but actually doing something about it - BEFORE the court steps in and orders it.
