Underage Drinking in My Apartment, I Didn't Buy It, Am I Still Liable
I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question but someone is bound to know the answer.....
My roommate is throwing a big Halloween party tonight in my apartment, and inevitably there will be underage drinking going on.
Now he bought all of the alcohol, he invited everyone over, ect.
However I am also 21 and my name is on the lease, and the landlord came over today (she is pretty chill but still) and said she heard there was a big party going down in my place tonight and if she got one noise complaint she'd be over with the state police.
What are my options?
If this party gets busted am I in trouble regardless? What if I am not home when the cops show up? Does that make a difference?
I can't afford to get in trouble over something like this --- party is tonight at 9:30, please advise!!
Thanks

there is a real possibility that yes, you would be in trouble

you are still the homeowner and considered to be in control of your home

it could but the fact you know of this party and the probability that alcohol will be there kind of shoots any claim of ignorance you may want to try.

not allow illegal activities at your home.
some of the answers may not be correct or totally correct since you refused to post the pertinent state.

Cancel the party. Underage drinkers are known for many, many things; being well-behaved and quiet aren't among them.

Based on the information you've provided, yes. Or no. What state is this?

It would seem then that you have found the solution to your problem: you can't afford to get into trouble. Trouble is not uncommon when you mix young people and alcohol. What exactly was your question?
