Emancipation
My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Alabama. Im currently 16. I have a 4.1 GPA. Both of my parents are disabled. I live with my mom and my dad lives 30 miles away.
My mom has five kids to take care of and she does not get a disabilty check yet. She can go back to work but she doesn't want to. She cannot support all of her kids and she depends on her parents to pay her bills. Also, she has just recently filed for bankruptcy. My mom is always trying to get back with my dad. She starts fights with the whole family so he will take her back. She lies about everything. Also, my mother smokes in the house. We ask her time and time again not to smoke in the house and she refuses to do so. I don't like growing up in a house like that.
My dad is disabled and he is getting a check. He takes the money that is supposed to be put towards his kids to take care of them and he buys cigarretes, pills off the road, and beer. He always puts everyone down. His parents take care of us and buy us school clothes.
I don't want to live with either of them. I have 11 cavities and my parents have yet to take me back to get them filled, even when i tell them my mouth is in pain. I feel i am way more responsible than my parents. Is their any way i can divorce my parents and become emancipated? Thank you.

Re: Emancipation
First of all I am wondering why you have 11 cavities. You are 16 years old, you should be old enough to take care of your teeth... you know flossing daily.
In order to get emancipated you need to fully support yourself. You own home, utilities, food, insurance etc. No public assistance, by yourself. You haven't mentioned if you even have a job. You also will have to continue HS and get good grades.
My best bet is MAYBE, have your grandparents gain guardianship of you. But emancipation is a dream of yours as of now.

Re: Emancipation
I understand where you are coming from. My parents have failed to take me to the dentist for the last 9years. They have never flossed, bought floss, or taught us how to.
I do have a job at the moment and I manage to do that and maintain my grades. And I'm not being disrespectful but that was only a piece of my life.
