Shoplifting
ok well i went to target the other day to buy some headphones. i opened up a pair of nike headphones that cost 24$ after trying them on and seeing that they fit i decided that i wanted to buy them. but instead of putting the ones i opened back, i put them into the box of another pair of the same head phones. i guess i thought that i could get two for the price of one. i then got a pack of red bull and a pack of gum and paid for the stuff. it came to 35$ and i walked out of the store. after walking for 50 ft security comes up to me and askes what i did with the empty package that had the headphones, i told them that i put them inside the package of the headphones i bought.
they brought me back to the security room and asked me why i did it, and i told them that i really had no reason for doing it and that it was stupid. they asked if i had ever done this befor, and i told them no. i have never gotten in trouble befor and was very imbarresed.
after being taken into the room the security guard took my id and started to write it down on a piece of paper. this went on for five minuets. then the other security guard came in, and told me that i am lucky because they are just goint to let me go, and he told the other security guard to cancel what he was putting into the computer.
i said thanks and definitly learned my lesson. my question is, will i be getting anything in the mail, like a fine or whatnot. they said they werent going to do anything but they did take down all of my info. also i did not have to sign anything, they just walked me out of the store.
im just kinda nervous, thats why im asking.

Re: Shoplifting
You may have indeed dodged a bullet.
We have no way of knowing what they're going to do, though. They may yet send you a civil demand. All you can do is wait and see.
You'd do well to stay out of that Target, lest they change their minds.

Re: Shoplifting
thanks for the info
im deffinitly not going to target for a while, even though they said i could come back.
i guess il just have to wait and see if they send anything to my house, im guna break the news to my parents this weekend when i go home so they are not shocked if they get the letter. i am away at school, can i give my parents money and have them pay the civil demand? or do i need to do it myself, im 20.
