Possible Wrong Drivers License on New York Ticket
I received a speeding ticket in NY state recently (I'm from Ontario, Canada), however when I looked very carefully at my drivers license that the cop wrote down, it appears that he might of missed out a letter. By chance my license # has a 1 in it and he wrote the 1 exactly on one of the vertical boxed lines. I have very good eye sight and I can just barely notice a small dot from the number under a magnifying glass and lamp. It would appear to be very difficult for any clerk to notice the missing number when they're entering in the ticket info into the system. I responded with a "not guilty" plea hoping that the letter I get back will contain all my info like the drivers license number...It didn't mention it. I was hoping that they would have my incorrect drivers license # and hence I would just ignore the ticket.
For those that are familar with NY state courts, how likely do they throw out a ticket like this where info like the drivers license number is incorrect?
In Ontario a simple error like this from a cop would get the ticket thrown out in an instant.

Just keep in mind that your copy of the ticket is probably the 2nd or 3rd in a triplicate form. Depending on what color pen he used, and assuming that the court gets the top copy from that triplicate, it might not be as conspicuous as it appears to be to you.

An "error"? The error hasn't happened yet. You're just hoping it does. Wait for the letter from the court and see what it says.
