Problems With Landlord's Plan to Sell Our Rental
My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Michigan

We are a tenant; 1 year ago (as of Nov 13, 2008) we signed a 6mo contract, month-to-month thereafter. Included within the contract, an Addendum states that the (Tenant grants to Landlord the right to show the property to prospective "tenants" for the purpose of renting or leasing.) my questions are; he has neglected several repairs, gone bad after agreement (outlets gone bad, hot water pressure 1/4 what they use to be, no more showers! refrigerator dead, garage door broken, cant use! and basement flooding 3 times, no clean up!) and now after this house was taken off the MLS with Realtor right after we moved in, he calls and asked would we consider "short sale" for we have a verbal option to buy, we replied yes! He states in order to do so he would have to list with a Realtor again (it's law?), Realtor wont work with us and states we must make our house available to them for prospective "buyers"? Do they have this right? We have 86 year old mother with progressive dementia, altimers and depression which would be too hard on her, and us! Do we have any means to prevent the traffic and deal with the bank directly for a short sale, which the Landlord stats are his preference? This is an upper class house, As a Tenant we have always paid on time and still do! We are in Michigan, Landlord lives in Ohio and we believe the house may be going into Foreclosure soon, what can we do? Any help would be great, we have 3 homes worth of possessions condensed into the garage and basement, winter will be setting in soon, moving again would be drastic, physically and mentally... thank you for your time!

    Re: This Dont Seem Right
The landlord has the right to show the house to prospective purchasers.

Why won't the real estate agent work with you? Your offer is too low? You haven't prequalified for a suitable mortgage? Some other reason?
