    Hi

    Its my first time i stole something, i stole stuff over $200 i aready went to court and i paid the fines, fees and everything for $200, the people at target took me pictures and made me sign a paper to not come back to target again,it was a third grade retail fraud, now i am worry, because i am from south america, and i d like to go back to usa, but i dont know if it is in my record and the embassy deny me the visa. The police didnt take my finger prints, can anybody please tell me what may happen.

    If you pled guilty to the charge of retail fraud, you have a conviction record. You should consult an immigration lawyer to see if you are qualified for the petty offense exception.

    But the only way to know for sure is to actually go to the consulate general in your country and apply for a visa. Do talk to a lawyer before going. Once they deny your application, it is very hard to re-apply. Do it right the first time.
