Soliciting on a Background Check
My question involves a background check in the State of: Oregon
I was convicted of Soliciting in the state of Nevada in 2005 I plead guilty served my time in jail and since then have cleaned up my act 2009. I am looking for employment in the state of Oregon and everywhere I apply they now want a Criminal Background check, will this still show up on that being that it was in another state, and if so, how long does it stay on my record? Do I have any options to with hold that from being on my record? Please help.
Re: Soliciting on a Background Check
It will ALWAYS be on your record. Unlike some credit issues, criminal convictions do not drop off after x number of years. Once it's there, it's there forever.
Whether or not it will show on a background check will depend on how thorough a check is done. Some employers will look at other states; some will not.
Re: Soliciting on a Background Check
It's possible to show up on a background check. How thorough of a background check is done (if any) is up to each individual employer & many times depends on the job (occupation) being applied for. Also, some jobs "require" a thorough background check.
