Can I Cancel My Claim After Less Than a Month
My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: California
I applied for unemployment because i worked less than 10 hours for two week. When usually i was working 30 a week. After 2 weeks they went back to 30. Can i just call the EDD and cancel it since my hours are more now?
Also, they never sent me a letter saying i qualified. But they sent me the paper that allows me to put the hours i worked for 2 weeks. Does this mean i already qualified?
Re: Can I Cancel My Claim After Less Than a Month
You probably could request it be voided, but why? You are eligible for at least one week of partial benefits, and who knows that what your hours won't be cut again in the foreseeable future? If you leave the claim open, you will have already satisfied the one week waiting period for benefits.
The claim form they sent you should be returned within the time frame specified. It does not mean you were approved. But you do need to complete and return it because, if you don't, when you ARE approved, you won't be able to retroactively submit it.

Ah. Would have been helpful if the OP had just tacked this on to the other thread. No photographic memory here and I contribute to a number of these forums. I can't remember Bob from Mary most days. :p
Re: Can I Cancel My Claim After Less Than a Month
Sorry i should have somehow attached my other post to this. I actually am new to this forum so Im still learning things. But yea basically i feel my boss is harassing me and i have now put my job at risk. I rather close my claim and just keep my job. And hope my boss will stop being on my case about everything while i look for another job.

Your employer may not retaliate against you because you applied for unemployment. If this happens, contact the CA DLSE. http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/DistrictOffices.htm
