Administrative Fee Charged After Being Found Not Guilty
I won a traffic infraction case today and was found not guilty. Upon leaving, one of the clerks told me I owed a $10 "administrative fee". I was happy to get out of there in one piece but my common sense tells me it was probably not legal to charge me anything. Also, she seemed unsure about it herself and went to consult with others. I live in California.
Could she have been right??? :?:
Re: Charged for being not guilty!
Belated thanks for your reply (I've been in Europe for a spell racing my new BMW on the autobahn..what fun!) I guess the thing that irritated me the most was that they wanted my $10 when it was clear they were confused, somewhat dim-witted and unapologetic about their ignorance. It was kind of disgusting to think we pay those people when they don't even understand the few things necessary in order to do their jobs.
