Returning Resident to the U.S. After Many Years
    Hello,

I need some advice please. I was a resident alien in the US from 1988 through 1999 then I returned to Ireland to look after my elderly parents.

I had to relinquish my resident status at the insistance of an immirgation offical when I travelled to the US on vacation in 2003. I did apply for a re entry permit at that time however was not able to return to the US within the alotted time frame as my parents were still alive.

Since then both parents passed away and I would like to return to the US permanently. What are my chances of doing so?

Thank you for any assistance you can give me.

You would need to start over. Do you presently qualify for any type of immigrant visa?

I don't believe that I qualify for any type of visa even though I am in a professional career as most US firms can hire the equivalent over there.

I have applied for the DV lottery visa for the last 3 years but to no avail. I thought maybe I might qualify for the 'SB-1' returning resident visa? I only say this because my last parent died in 2006 which is why I could not give the INS offical at the time, an exact date of when I would return to the US to reside.
