    Apply U.S. Citizenship and Shoplifting Charge
    Two years ago,I had a shoplifting charge (theft 5th) with $250 fin, but the Judge send me to probation programe for 12 month to clear my record. my probation officer told me that I am dismissed ,and my record will be clear after 10month probation .
    NOw I am appling for Citizenship, I wonder if I should say that I have been arrested or not? and will this effect on my application for citizenship? would you help me on this question?

    Since you will be asked, yes, you need to disclose it. They'll know anyway, so lying would be a bad idea.

    A single petty theft charge is usually not enough to torpedo your application.

    Just be truthful, and you should be fine.

    Have you read Part 10, Section D of the N-400 form? The only way you can avoid disclosing the incident is by lying about it. And if you want to naturalize, as opposed to packing your bags for a return to your nation of origin, you don't want to get caught lying.

    Thanks for your answer eventhough this is not what my question asked for .

    I just wonder if I am ok for appling citizenship,I have never intend to lie about it
