Can I Be Hired As a Sheriff's Deputy
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida
    Hello,
In 1999 I was 18 years old and just out of High-School 2 months. My father and I had a bad argument and it got pretty heated. I wanted to walk out but my mother was trying to make peace right there and as I tried to force my way out the door I grabbed her forearm to get it out of the way so I could leave. Cops were called, you know the rest. Well its been just over 10 years since and I have not had any problems at all. In fact, I paid my own way through college going at night while working full-time during the days in management capacity for a small-business. I have just finished with my B.A and my current employment is iffy with the current economy. I plead not guilty to the charges and was given PTI and the case was dismissed shortly after. I am considering getting L.E certification to become a local Deputy but will I even get hired with this on my record? I have thought of calling an attorney to see if it can be expunged, even though I still have to report it during employment process, maybe it would make things look better? I now have a family of my own, don't drink, never used drugs, no tickets since high-school. What do you think? Thank you for your time.

Hell... It's possible. I've seen a lot worse than you become police officers.
