Issues with False Harassment Charges

My question involves criminal law for the state of: New Jersey


A few days ago i had harassment charges pressed against me. The charges were for "harassing phone calls." All charges are false, but the only proof i would have is documentation from my phone company.
I need to know:

What effect do harassment charges have on my college career and job, including future careers?

&

If proven false, would i be able to sue for slander and emotional distress?
