Going from State Disability to UI
My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: california

I am currently receiving unemployment benefits and should qualify for my first extension in early November (for an additional 20 weeks should I not find work - I am looking!). I am also pregnant and expecting a baby the end of November. I should qualify for SDI and PFL for 12 weeks following the baby's birth and once those are done I would still have probably 18 weeks left on my unemployment claim. Since this is an extension would my original claim date and "extension" benefit amount still be valid and would I need to "re-open" my claim or would I have to establish a whole new claim (if thats the case I don't think I'd have any earnings in the window they look at so I guess my benefits would be zero). Also how do you re-open your claim - do you have to do a phone interview - it wasn't very clear to me what the process was on the website.

Given that you were unemployed in advance of your anticipated disability, and the disability has no relation to your employment, I don't believe you can resume unemployment benefits after your disability benefits end.
