False Assault Charges

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas

My minor son was recently falsely accused of assault by contact by a minor female. I say falsely because there is video to prove that she was lying. As a result he was suspended from school for a period of time.

Can we file charges against her for filing a false police report? Is there anything we can do to make sure this girl does not get away with this.
She has seriously damaged my son's reputation and I would hate to think that she will do this again.

Presumably the police are already aware of the discrepancy between the video and the girl's statement, although I don't see that anything would stop you from asking if they've submitted a recommendation for prosecution to the prosecutor's office.
