hi iam 24 years international student studing masters yesterday i caught in shop lifting. i have to go to court on november 3rd 2009. iam guilty for what i did. so does it effect my history? will i get job in future ? what should i do now with out effecting my history.i stay in california bay area. will they send me to jail , the merchandise which i stole is about 200$
you are guilty, but if this is your first offense PLEAD NOT GUILTY at the arraignment. This will increase your chances of getting an ACoD which is an Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal.
Try to get that...that is the best case scenario. If you have an ACoD it will be less likely that it'll affect your visa or status in the US.
