Expunge a 1998 shoplifting charge
In 1998 I went to court for sixth degree larceny in Connecticut. I was on pain meds and walked of a pharmacy because I realized my wallet was in the car. I forgot to put the neosporin down and as a result I got an arrest in the form of a ticket and a PTA. The Prosecutor told me if I plead under the Alfred Doctrine (I think thats what it was) got accelerated rehabilitation and stayed out of trouble for a year it would go away. Due to the fact that I was starting chemothreapy the next day I did what she said since I just wanted behind me. Now I'm not so sure it was removed from my record and I want to go back to work in emergency medical service ( I had stopped in 1997 to go back to school) but I am worried that this will prevent me from getting a job with EMS again when they do a background check. Does the state automatically remove it from my record or do I have to initiate it, and if so, how do I go about doing so?
